About Guangzhou Design Week
GUANGZHOU DESIGN WEEK is an annual international event for promoting innovation and design that takes place in Guangzhou at the end of November each year since 2006, organized by GUANGZHOU MUNICIPALITY.
Guangzhou Design Week is the first ever and only design event in China, jointly endorsed & promoted worldwide by the top three design organizations, which are International Council of Societies of Industrial Design (ICSID), International Council of Graphic Design Associations (ICOGRADA), and International Federation of Interior Architects/Designers (IFI).

The awards are open to design practices & individuals who have completed projects in the any part of the world.

- to promote public awareness of interior design as an important aspect of everyday life;

to acknowledge / give industry recognition to deserving projects and designers;

to encourage and promote professional standards and ethics among interior design practices operating in the region.
iC@ward - Profile of Entries
The awards are open to design practices & individuals who have completed projects globally except Student, Proposal & Animation Categories. Projects entered for the 2008 competition must have been completed between 1 June 2007 and 31 August 2008 in order to qualify.
iC@ward is given in thirteen (13) categories of Interior Design:
1. Commercial: All kinds of commercial space, from boutiques to retail shops, beauty salons, fitness centres, disco, karaoke, theatres, movie houses and airport lounges.
2. Corporate: All work-related space, from large corporate headquarters, to banking facilities, and small offices.
3. Hotel: All hotel-related facilities e.g. commercial hotel, budget hotel, city hotel and resort hotel. The hotel category standard must consist of a main lobby, F & B outlet and one single guest room or suite etc.
4. Club: All hospitality-related facilities, including resorts, golf and country clubs, yacht clubs, night clubs etc.
5. Residential: Everything from villas and large houses, to penthouses and smaller apartments used as living space.
6. Restaurant: All types of food and beverage outlets, including other food and entertainment venues.
7. Bar: Bar lounges, relaxation & entertainment area and hotel lobby bar.
8. Institution: This category includes schools, churches, public spaces, etc. where the interior environment is built for a specific purpose of social activities.
9. Exhibition: An environment used to showcase or promote a product or service other than in a retail outlet. This can include exhibition stands, museums, galleries and public spaces. They are generally temporary structures and focus on attracting public attention towards the exhibited product.
10. Showflat: Showflat provided by realty developers to create an environment (on actual building site or off-site prototype) to promote the sales of the property.

13. Animation: All kinds of animation design proposal or presentation for all types of projects listed above.
Rules & Regulations
1. Entries are submitted through the official websites of ICIAD www.iciad-cn.org & Guangzhou Design Week www.gzdesignweek.com . Entry Form can be downloaded and are required to be submitted by mail to the organizer before the closing deadline.
* Fill in the entry form with complete information
* A design brief in A4 word format
* Ten (10) design images in A4 format
* A floor plan layout in A4 format
* Copy of the proof of payment
* Designer or design team digital photo
* All the above digital information in not less than 350 dpi .jpg format contained in a CD-Rom. You are required to submit two (2) copies of the CD-Rom.

3. Corporate entry is accepted.
4. Submissions may be entered into one or more categories. Each submission must include the above information to meet the specific requirement.
5. The Organizer has the right to cancel the entry if entrants do not fulfill the organizer’s requirement or if incomplete/inaccurate information were submitted.
6. Entrants must clearly indicate their project category when submitting the entry. The panel of adjudicators reserve the right to make judgment to decide the entrant’s project category if found inappropriate.

AWARDS
1. One winner gold ring and certificate, 2 honorable mention silver rings and certificates and 2 merit certificates are presented to entrants for category 1 to 10 submissions.
2. For category 11 to 13, gold, silver and merit award certificates are presented.
3. Owners of winning projects will receive certificates in honor of, and support of their designers' submissions.

Promotion Agenda
1. Commencement: On 29 November, 2007 at the main hall of Jin Han Exhibition Centre, Guangzhou City in conjunction with the launching of Guangzhou Design Week 2007.
2. Organization: Through ICIAD headquarters and their representative offices throughout the world and their China regional offices to invite designers to participate.
3. Promotion: Between March to September 2008, the organizer, through ICIAD international membership network and related media will promote the event through road shows in no less than ten major China cities.
4. Submission: Entry commence between 1 March – 31 August, 2008 based on the above requirement.
5. Judging: First round judging will be completed before 10 October, 2008. The first round will select the 5 finalists, whose projects will then be judged by an international panel of judges. The finalists list will be announced on or before 16 October, 2008.
6. Final Judging: Final round judging will be held between 15 October – 30 October, 2008. The results will be sealed by the panel of adjudicators. The winners will only be announced on the evening of the awards.
7. Presentation of Awards: The iC@ward 2008 International Interior Design Award presentation and gala dinner will be held on the second night of the Guangzhou Design Week 2008 in 'OSCAR Award' style. The elite Panel of Adjudicators will present the awards to the winners.
8. Exhibition: All award winning projects will be displayed during Guangzhou Design Week 2008 in conjunction with the ICIAD Interior Design Symposium 2008.
9. Yearbook: iC@ward 2008 International Interior Design Award yearbook will be published and released between January to March 2009 globally.
10. Road show: A series of award road shows and exhibitions will be promoted between March to October, 2009.
RIGHTS & OBLIGATIONS
1. The applicant grants the host organization an irrevocable and perpetual license to deal with, exhibit or in whatsoever way of the materials in respect of the reasonable activities of ICIAD including using the materials in brochures, website, CD, DVD, books, power point presentation, exhibition, and any other appropriate functions, occasions and printed matters; whether or not commercially sponsored, with a view to making a profit for ICIAD or for any other commercial purposes.
2. The organizers reserve the right to withhold awards not deemed to meet the required standard in any category.
3. The organizers reserve the right to withdraw the applicant's awarded title in case non-qualifications are proved at any time, all losses and responsibilities arising from there to be undertaken by the applicant.
4. All terms listed in this rule are deemed to be fully accepted by the applicants on participation.
DISPUTES
1. Should any disputes between the applicants fail in settlement through mutual negotiation or organizer's interceding, the applicants may consider resorting to legal recourse to settle such unresolved issues.
2. Applicant’s consequence & responsibility is always held should submission cause any legal disputes arising from violating any third party’s copyright, intellectual rights, etc. Applicant should undertake responsibilities of all loss, including organizer's loss if arised from there.
3. Any disputes arising from the organizing of the Award is to be settled through lawsuits in the event of failure in negotiation.
OTHERS:
1 、 The organizer reserves the ultimate right to interpret & amend this rule.
2 、 This rule takes effect from January 1st., 2008.
