Individual membership to ICIAD is divided into three classifications. They are:


Licenciate Member

All students studying at ICIAD recognised education centers, schools, colleges, universities or approved e-learning programs are required to sign on as a Licenciate Member for the duration of his/her academic program. Students from other colleges are also encouraged to join ICIAD.
Licenciate members will be issued with a Licenciate Member Card and be entitled to all general benefits as identified in the Council's list of privileges and entitlements.

Membership Fee: US$50.00 per year.
Students are required to upgrade to Diploma Member status after completion of their design study curriculum. A Licenciate Member classification is only valid for the duration of a student's academic studies.


Diploma Member which carries the affix Dip. ICIAD

Upon successful completion of their Student program at any ICIAD academic center, the Student Member will have his/her member status upgraded to that of Diploma Member which entitles them to use the appropriate affix.
This category of membership is also open to applicants who have graduated with Diploma, Bachelors, Masters or Doctorate degrees from accredited institutions or universities recognised by ICIAD.

Membership fee: USD$100.00 per year.


Fellow Member which carries the affix FICIAD
or Fellow ICIAD

This category is by invitation or appointment only.

Membership fee: There is no membership fee chargeable.

ICIAD is, and remains till today, the only international design organization in the world that offers membership to individuals. Different classes of membership are made available to designers and design practitioners; and to commercial entities that are involved in the design, building and construction trade, and also those involved in corporate real estate management, facilities management and hospitality management. Each class of membership serves its own unique purpose in enhancing an individual or corporate members' portfolio and status whether in business or professional practice.

While acceptance to membership is often through vetting of an applicant's membership application form, the Membership Board headed by the Membership Chariman with the support of the Council's governing board exercises the discretion of appraising a candidate's eligibility via appraisal of any submitted portfolio or an arranged interview with the applicant.

The Membership Board of ICIAD reserves the right to deny membership to any individual application.

Benefits of Individual Membership

Benefits of joining ICIAD are wide ranging, whether a candidate joins as an individual member or an institutional, academic or corporate member.

Individual members, being eminently qualified in the class of membership that they have applied into are eligible for upgrade to the next, higher class of membership in due course. Whilst it is not a promotion, a member upgraded to the next level of membership is recognised for the individual's accomplishment in their field of practice.

Members whether Licenciate, Diploma or Fellows all earn the privilege of discounts on entry fees when participating in ICIAD or ICIAD-affiliate organized seminars, symposiums, workshops, overseas education trips, exhibitions and design competitions, and on many occasions when a program is commercially sponsored, enjoy privileged free entry to such events.

Members' design portfolios are regularly selected for feature in the various design magazines and journals published monthly by our regional chapters in China and Malaysia.
One-on-one interviews with designers offer the opportunity to showcase their design talent at the same time share their design and creative philosophy to the reading audience at large.

ICIAD is a member of and affiliated with various chambers of commerce all over the world. As such, design and social network events are all part of a regular agenda encouraging individuals to parkate in fellowship and networking whether for business or pleasure with members of the same fraternity, industry associates or potential clients.

Design competitions offering the pursuit of accolades and winning of prestigious awards and scholarship awards are to many of our members, the primary reason why they join ICIAD. Competition participants who have their work shortlisted in ICIAD's international level design competitions in themselves are already benchmarked against world standards.
